10-year-old boy finds the bodies of five people, including two kids, who were ‘violently’ killed in home
Five individuals, including two children, were discovered dead in a suburban Oklahoma City residence, with a 10-year-old boy stumbling upon the grim scene, officials reported.
“This wasn’t an accident like a gas leak or a drug-related incident; these are five individuals who were violently killed,” stated Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight regarding the distressing crime scene uncovered early Monday in Yukon.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages, and authorities have not yet made appeals for potential suspects.
A firearm was found atop a male victim, as detailed in a request made in Canadian County District Court. However, officials refrained from immediately categorizing it as a murder-suicide.
According to a law enforcement source cited by the Oklahoman, a 10-year-old boy made the discovery, though specifics were not disclosed.
The identities of the deceased, including whether they were all from the same family, have not been disclosed. Notably, the victims include two children, officials confirmed.
“The fact that children were present in this home and became victims of this tragedy is heartbreaking and utterly tragic,” expressed district superintendent Charles Bradley in an email to families on Monday, mentioning that one of the victims had graduated just last year.
A significant police presence was observed on the cul-de-sac where the incident occurred, with the area cordoned off except for local residents.
In a video address, Sgt. Knight emphasized that investigators were in the initial stages of their inquiry and were working to secure a warrant to access the residence. He also mentioned plans to dispatch a crime scene investigation team to process the area.
As the investigation continues, police refrained from providing further comments.
