A 10-year-old boy has allegedly confessed to fatally shooting former Minden mayor Joe Cornelius, 82, and his daughter, Keisha Miles, 31, at Cornelius's home in Louisiana.

Police discovered the victims with multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday morning and later received a confession from the young suspect, a relative of Cornelius. The child, accompanied by his grandmother, admitted to the killings and led officers to two hidden firearms believed to have been used in the crime.

Another child, aged six, was present during the incident but was unharmed. The motive behind the shootings remains unclear, and the juvenile is currently being held at a youth center in another state as authorities continue their investigation.

Cornelius, known as "Mister Joe," was a respected community figure, having served as a city councilman and briefly as interim mayor of Minden in 2013. He was also recognized for his two decades of work with local youth through the organization Concerned Citizens of Minden.
