149 suspected criminals parading as hunters arrested by Ondo Amotekun
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has made significant strides in maintaining security by apprehending 149 suspected criminals. These individuals were intercepted within trucks entering the state and were detained across three local government areas.
According to Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the state Commander of the corps, the suspects were nabbed at notorious black spots where criminal activities like robbery and kidnapping occur frequently. Concealed within their luggage and vehicles, the suspects carried various weapons, claiming to be hunters from different parts of the country.
Adeleye expressed concerns over the suspicious behavior of the suspects, questioning their motives for hiding weapons and venturing into unfamiliar territories without proper registration or consultation. He emphasized the importance of transparency and adherence to regulations, especially regarding hunting activities in forest reserves.
The commander urged individuals intending to conduct legitimate business in Ondo State to engage with relevant authorities or local leaders to avoid misunderstandings and ensure safety. He warned that the government would not tolerate unauthorized entry into forest areas, citing the potential for criminal activities to thrive in such environments.
Adeleye stressed the correlation between the detained suspects and criminal incidents, suggesting that they might be involved in nefarious activities like kidnapping and armed robbery. This proactive approach aims to deter and combat crime effectively, safeguarding the wellbeing of residents and visitors alike.
