2 Killed As Bandits Attack Kaduna Juma’at Mosque, Abduct Worshippers

Less than 24 hours after the abduction of about 287 pupils and teachers from a primary school in Kuriga village, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, at least two worshippers were killed during Friday's Juma'at prayer in Anguwar Makera, Kwasakwasa community, Birnin Gwari local government area.


According to locals, the attack occurred around 2pm. Hudu Kwasakwasa, a community leader, confirmed that bandits opened fire on worshippers during the prayer, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.


"The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma'at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday)," he stated. "The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery."


He further revealed that the attack occurred during the second raka'at of the salat, prompting worshippers to flee for safety. Additionally, he mentioned a recent abduction of nine people by the same bandits in Angwar Kanawa.


Kwasakwasa appealed for urgent intervention from the authorities, stressing that the bandits were operating unchecked in the communities.


The mosque attack occurred shortly after the abduction of the students, with no official response from the Kaduna State Government or the State Police Command at the time of reporting, as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for comment.
