Two people have been reported killed, and several others are missing following an attack by suspected armed herdsmen on the Onipi community in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The armed herdsmen reportedly stormed the community on Tuesday afternoon, attacking farmers in their fields. According to an anonymous source, the attackers not only killed the victims but also set fire to yam barns and a mini truck loaded with yams from the farms.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, as there were no prior conflicts with the farmers. The Caretaker Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Alfred Omakwu, confirmed the incident, stating that besides the two deaths, the invaders also destroyed several properties.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
