25-year-old man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping boy in Jigawa
A State High Court in Jigawa, presided over by Justice Musa Ubale, issued a life imprisonment sentence to 25-year-old Aminu Ali for the heinous crimes of raping and sodomizing a 10-year-old boy, whose identity is protected.
Ali, a resident of Aukayawa Quarters in the Gwaram Local Government Area of the state, was convicted after the prosecution successfully proved "beyond reasonable doubt" that he enticed the victim and engaged in anal intercourse with him.
To substantiate its case, the prosecution presented five witnesses and submitted four exhibits, including a medical report. Justice Ubale, in his verdict, acknowledged the thorough establishment of the prosecution's case.
Consequently, the judge imposed a life imprisonment sentence on the defendant, citing Section 3 (2&4) of the Violence Against Person Prohibition Law of Jigawa State (VAPP LAW) as the legal basis for the punishment.
The convict has the legal right to appeal the judgment within three months.
