55-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping and Impregnating 17-Year-Old Daughter in Bauchi State

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdullahi Baban Karatu, for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old biological daughter in Kurmin Ado village, Kariya ward, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed a complaint received by the police at the Ganjuwa Divisional Headquarters on April 3, 2025, at about 4:30 p.m. A statement released by the police revealed that the incident occurred sometime in November 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., when the suspect reportedly lured his daughter into his matrimonial bedroom and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her. He allegedly repeated this act on several occasions.

According to the statement, a team of experienced detectives was assigned to discreetly investigate the matter. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the repeated acts of sexual abuse against his daughter, admitting full responsibility for the resulting pregnancy, which medical examination confirmed to be at three months.

The victim, during her interview with investigators, confirmed her father’s account, stating that the abuse began while her mother was away visiting relatives in Burra village, Ningi Local Government Area. She explained that her father took advantage of her mother’s absence to carry out the assaults.

Upon her mother’s return, she noticed the pregnancy and confronted her daughter, who then revealed that her father was responsible.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and charged to court upon conclusion. Investigation is ongoing.
