6 shot, including 2 children, in Washington, DC; suspect vehicle sought: Police
One person was killed, and five others, including two children, were injured when gunmen opened fire in a residential area of Washington, D.C., according to police reports on Wednesday.
The shooting took place shortly after 6 p.m. ET in the Carver Langston neighborhood in Northeast D.C., specifically on the 1100 block of 21st Street, NE. Police are actively seeking a suspect vehicle linked to the shooting.
Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith informed reporters that based on preliminary information, the suspects exited a vehicle and started shooting into the crowd outside. Sadly, one man lost his life in the incident.
Additionally, two men, one woman, a 9-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old boy sustained injuries and were taken to area hospitals. Chief Smith noted that the injuries of those taken to the hospital were non-life-threatening.
Authorities are currently on the lookout for a light blue Toyota sedan, possibly occupied by two shooters, in connection with the shooting.
Chief Smith condemned the violence, describing it as a "senseless act" of gun violence that communities cannot tolerate.
