6-Week-Old Baby Mauled to Death by Family Dog in Knoxville
Tragedy struck in Knoxville, Tennessee, when a 6-week-old baby, Ezra Mansoor, was fatally mauled by the family’s dog while sleeping in his crib. The incident occurred in the infant's home, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Ezra succumbed to his injuries six days later.
“Being his mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done,” said the grieving mother, Chloe Mansoor, to WVLT. Ezra suffered severe injuries, including a brain bleed and swelling, and remained in critical condition for nearly a week before passing away.
The attack was described as "completely unprovoked" and came as a shock to the family. The husky, which the family had owned for eight years, had no previous history of aggression, nor did the other dog in the home.
Despite their profound grief, Ezra’s parents, Mark and Chloe, have chosen to donate his organs to help other infants in need. This decision has provided them with some solace during this heart-wrenching time.
“Really don’t take anything for granted even if it’s a moment you’re annoyed or frustrated in. All of those little moments are still so amazing,” Chloe said. “Pray for all the family really, everyone loved him so much. I know everyone’s grieving right now, we’re grieving right now, and it’s going to be a lifelong process trying to work through this.”
The dog responsible for the attack has been taken to an animal shelter as the Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducts its investigation. The future of the dog and potential charges remain uncertain.
