A man has fallen to his death from a hot-air balloon in Australia

A tragic incident occurred on Monday in suburban Melbourne, Australia, as a man fell to his death from a hot-air balloon. The balloon, originating from Melbourne's northern suburbs, had been airborne for approximately 30 minutes before the incident occurred.

The man's body was discovered in a residential area, prompting Victoria state police to close off the area to traffic. Remarkably, the balloon landed safely several miles away from where the tragedy unfolded.

Authorities have stated that the death is not considered suspicious, and they are conducting interviews with the balloon's pilot, other occupants, and witnesses.

The National Commercial Hot-Air Ballooning Industry and the Australian Ballooning Federation have extended their condolences to the man's family and friends.

In their official statement, they emphasized that hot-air balloon baskets are designed with safety measures to prevent accidental falls. They also mentioned that psychological support and counseling are being arranged for those affected by the tragedy.

The incident is currently under investigation by workplace and air safety regulators to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
