The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command has successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapper, Saidu Abdulkadir.

According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest took place during a raid on kidnappers' camps situated on the border between Nasarawa and Abuja, near the Kuje area council, at approximately midnight on Thursday.

Adeh explained that upon sighting the police operatives, the bandits opened fire and engaged them in a gun battle but were eventually subdued.

Two individuals, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who had been abducted from the Kuje Area Council, were rescued unharmed during the operation.

The statement emphasized, "The Police operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to the Anti-kidnapping unit, in a continued effort against criminality in the Territory, raided two (2) kidnappers’ camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje area council on 15/02/2024 at about midnight, dislodged the camps and arrested one Saidu Abdulkadir ‘m’ popularly known as (Dahiru Adamu), who is the gang leader and one of the wanted suspects of the kidnapping syndicate paraded by the Police Command on 14th February 2024."

It further stated, "Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects masterminded the kidnap and killing of one Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the District head of Ketti village."

The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh reassured criminals in FCT that there is no safe haven for them, urging residents to report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

Recent incidents have highlighted the prevalence of kidnapping in the FCT, with perpetrators often demanding ransom from their victims. Notably, Najeebah was abducted along with her five sisters in Abuja, leading to tragic consequences.
