Stephen Miller Sr., 64, on Monday reported that his 57-year-old wife, Gloria Miller, suddenly disappeared from their home on Halls Mill Road on Saturday Feb. 22.

An Alabama man, Stephen Miller, has admitted to choking his wife, Gloria Miller, to death after initially filing a missing person report and seeking public help to find her, according to local police.

Authorities allege that Miller was involved in a physical altercation with his wife, during which he placed his hands around her throat and suffocated her until she passed away.

Dothan Police Lieutenant Ronald Hall stated that Miller then transported his wife's body in his truck and dumped it into a creek in Geneva County. Afterward, he reported her missing and even reached out to local news outlets to appeal for help in finding her.

However, investigators grew suspicious of Miller’s account. “He basically knew his [claims] were not adding up, and he basically knew that he had no choice [but to confess],” Hall told CBS affiliate KKTV.

Authorities uncovered a history of domestic violence between the couple, with both having previously filed complaints against each other. After piecing together inconsistencies in his story, investigators obtained Miller’s confession.

He has been officially charged with murder and is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
