American wife, 44, is found dead after 'extreme sex' as cops arrest her husband, 50, claiming 'risky practises' during their vacation in Spain

The body of an American woman, 44, was found in a Malaga apartment with cops believing 'extreme sex' led to her demise

An American woman was tragically found dead in a Spanish apartment after engaging in 'extreme sex' activities, leading to the arrest of her husband during their vacation in Spain.

The body of the 44-year-old woman was discovered inside a tourist apartment in Plaza Enrique Garcia Herrera, Malaga, on April 6.

Spanish authorities swiftly arrested her 50-year-old husband, with sources close to the case indicating that the death may have been linked to 'extreme sexual practices' the couple was involved in.

The husband faces charges of reckless homicide following his wife's death.

Initially investigated as gender-based violence, the case was upgraded to homicide due to evidence suggesting an accidental death during extreme or risky sexual activities in an 'intimate context.' Recent investigative procedures have hinted at a context of sexist violence, according to local media.

On Monday, the 50-year-old appeared before a judge at Investigative Court number 9 of Malaga, where the suspect was ordered to be provisionally detained without bail, as reported by Spanish press.

Judicial sources confirmed that the case will now be handled by the Violence Against Women Court due to its nature.

The incident came to light when local police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in an Airbnb-style flat in the city's historic center last Saturday. Medical personnel on-site could only confirm the woman's death, prompting the National Police to take over the investigation to determine the cause.

The body was subsequently transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy and forensic analysis.

Should the sexist motivation be substantiated, it would mark the third such fatality in Malaga this year.

The Spanish National Police are actively continuing their investigations into the case.
