Anambra Pastor Allegedly Defiles 4-Year-Old, Governor’s Wife Demands Justice

A 56-year-old pastor, identified as Emeka Mkama, has allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The incident, which occurred on December 24, 2024, was only made public on Monday after being reported to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, and the Chairman of Idemili North LGA, Chief Stanley Nkwoka.

According to reports, the crime remained undisclosed until a health worker at the Model Primary Health Centre, Obosi, alerted the Supervisor of Health in Idemili North. The suspect, a pastor at Jesus Build the Church Mission in Obosi, hails from Ebonyi State.

A family member of the victim, speaking anonymously, revealed that the child had been ill since the incident. Instead of seeking immediate medical attention or reporting to authorities, her family resorted to herbal remedies. When her condition worsened, the mother finally sought medical care, leading to the exposure of the case.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been in detention since last month but warned that he might be released soon unless swift legal action is taken.

Reacting to the case, the wife of the Anambra State governor, Nonye Soludo, has vowed to ensure justice is served.

In a statement on Monday, her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, revealed that Mrs. Soludo had mobilized legal action, ordered close monitoring of the child’s health, and tasked the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, with pursuing comprehensive legal proceedings against the suspect.

Condemning the culture of silence surrounding sexual violence, Mrs. Soludo emphasized that speaking out against such crimes is crucial to combating domestic and sexual abuse.
