Anglican Reverend Murdered by Son in Horrific Attack in Delta State

The peaceful Okpare Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was plunged into mourning on Wednesday morning following the gruesome murder of Rev. Isaac Umurie by his son, Ufuoma Umurie.

Naija Echo reports that the tragic incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the priest, attached to St. John’s Anglican Church, Okpare-Olomu, was brutally attacked in his sleep. According to a vigilante member, Ufuoma struck his father with deadly machete blows to the head, killing him instantly.

Sources reveal that this was not the first time Ufuoma had attacked his father. Multiple community members have alleged that Ufuoma is suspected to be mentally unstable. A chilling video obtained by Vanguard shows the suspect using a cutlass to mutilate his father's skull and other parts of his body while he was asleep.

The victim's wife narrowly escaped as Ufuoma allegedly chased her while she attempted to save her husband. A community member recounted, "This is the second time Ufuoma has attacked his father. Previously, he beat him, and the vigilante held him, but the father pleaded not to take him to the police station. We heard he is not mentally stable. In today's incident, he hacked his father with a cutlass, burst his skull, and mutilated other parts of his body. The priest was close to retirement and had been brought closer to home because of it before this unfortunate incident."

The suspect has been apprehended and handed over to the police at the Otu-Jeremi Divisional Headquarters for prosecution. Police Public Relations Officer Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a brief text message on Wednesday
