A 60-year-old Argentinian lawyer is gaining attention and is one step closer to making history by aiming to become the oldest contestant in Miss Universe.

Alejandra Rodriquez was crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires on Wednesday, earning the opportunity to represent the province in the nationwide competition in May.

Initially thinking she was too old for the global beauty pageant, Rodriquez changed her perspective when the age rules were modified.

Rodriquez believed she had long aged out of the worldwide beauty pageant, but her thoughts changed when the rules changed.

Since its establishment in 1952, Miss Universe contestants had to be between 18 and 28 years old, single, and without children.

However, last year, the pageant announced that women aged 18 to 73 could compete regardless of other factors, starting with the 2024 competition.

The newly crowned Miss Buenos Aires is happy to be competing and is proud to be one of the faces of the modern beauty pageants.

Gabriel holds the current record as the oldest Miss Universe winner, securing the title at 28 years old in 2022.

Rodriquez, who pursued journalism after high school and later studied law to become a legal advisor for a hospital, shared her secrets to maintaining her appearance, attributing it to a healthy lifestyle.

She emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and minimal stress, mentioning intermittent fasting and a preference for organic foods.

Rodriquez's win at the Miss Buenos Aires competition came from a pool of 35 contestants of various ages.

Rodriquez exercises three times a week through activities like walking and jogging, focusing on moderate routines rather than extreme workouts.

Competing among 35 contestants of various ages without an age category, Rodriquez expressed her joy at being part of the evolving beauty pageant landscape, emphasizing values beyond physical appearance.

Rodriquez, whose looks are still turning heads credits her lifestyle for her appearance, saying she keeps to her diet and remains active.
The 60-year-old says she sticks to her diet, which consists of healthy eating.

Now aiming for the Miss Argentina pageant in Buenos Aires starting on May 25, Rodriquez is proud to represent a new era in beauty pageants that values diverse qualities in women beyond looks.
