Armed robber rapes 20-year-old Jigawa housewife in husband's presence after stealing five bags of pepper


The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber for sexually assaulting a 20-year-old housewife in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.


The Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, made this revelation during a press briefing on Thursday, March 28, 2024, stating that the suspect was nabbed along with two accomplices.


As per CP Abdullahi, the alleged robbers identified as Abubakar Isah, Umar Ibrahim, and Umar Nasara, brandishing cutlasses, forcibly entered the residence of Mudan Ibrahim, looted five bags of pepper, and subsequently, one of them committed rape against his wife.


"On 17/03/2024 at about 0700hrs, Mudan Ibrahim 'm' from Chori Village in Ringim LGA, lodged a report at Ringim Division detailing an incident that occurred on the same date around 0200hrs. Three unidentified individuals, armed with cutlasses, unlawfully entered his premises, assaulted him, and stole five bags of pepper.


Additionally, one of the perpetrators sexually assaulted his wife, Ummi Garba 'f', aged 20 years, also residing in the same location," stated CP Abdullahi.


"Upon receiving the report, detectives from Ringim Division swiftly responded, leading to the apprehension of Abubakar Isah 'm', aged 25 years, Umar Ibrahim 'm', aged 25 years, and Umar Nasara 'm', aged 30 years, all from Chori village in Ringim LGA, in connection with the incident.


"During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and were subsequently transferred to SCID, Dutse, for further investigation. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be arraigned," added CP Abdullahi.
