Autopsy Report Fails To Reveal Cause Of Mohbad’s Death, Pathologist Tells Court

Late Mohbad

The autopsy conducted on the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, reportedly did not establish the cause of his death. This information was shared by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, during a press briefing at the coroner’s inquest held in Lagos State on Wednesday.

Shittu explained that the pathologist responsible for the autopsy stated that the body had decomposed significantly by the time the examination was conducted, making it impossible to determine the cause of death. He emphasized that this lack of clarity meant the cause of death was considered suspicious.

Furthermore, the pathologist suggested that the deceased might have reacted adversely to certain drugs administered to him before his demise. However, he couldn’t confirm if these drugs directly contributed to the death.

Shittu urged caution in reacting to this development, highlighting the expertise of the pathologist. He mentioned that he hadn't seen the full report yet, as access to the document required a formal application as per the coroner's advice.

Additionally, Shittu revealed that a date had been set for cross-examining the pathologist regarding the autopsy findings. He advised waiting until all pertinent questions were addressed before drawing conclusions.

Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away on September 12 at the age of 27, sparking controversy and speculation about the circumstances of his death on social media.

The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team to probe the incident, leading to arrests of individuals including Naira Marley and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.

The autopsy process, including the toxicology test, has been completed, but definitive results and conclusions are pending further analysis and expert interpretation.
