Bandits storm the Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTEC, Osara, Okene in Kogi State, abduct students

Bandits raided Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC) in Kogi State on Thursday night, kidnapping several students who were studying for upcoming exams. The attackers entered through the bush, entered three lecture halls, and fired shots to create panic.

An eyewitness reported that the bandits trapped students in the halls and took them away, causing chaos and fear among other students. Security personnel intervened, limiting the attackers to the first three halls. The incident occurred as students were preparing for exams starting on May 13.

One student, speaking anonymously, described hiding in the bush for over an hour until it was safe to come out. CUSTEC's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulraman Asipita, confirmed the incident without disclosing the number of abducted students.

Efforts to reach Kogi's Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, and the State Security Adviser, Retired Cdre Jerry Omodara, for comments were unsuccessful.
