Bangladesh teacher suspended after allegedly shooting student in exam
A Bangladeshi medical college professor has been suspended following an incident where he allegedly shot a student during a class. Raihan Sharif was arrested immediately after the incident, but his suspension came just two days later amidst protests from students at the college.
The student who was shot received treatment at a hospital. Reports from local media suggest that the altercation occurred when the student and Sharif got into an argument during an exam. Sharif allegedly brandished a gun during the confrontation, ultimately shooting the student in the leg. Fortunately, the bullet struck the student's phone in his pocket, preventing a fatal injury.
When the shooting took place, there were 45 students in the classroom. They reacted swiftly by locking the professor in a room and alerting the police.
Authorities revealed that Sharif had a reputation for carrying weapons on campus and exhibiting them during lectures.
