Beloved Chilean Country Music Star Ivana Pino Dies in Car Crash Day After 32nd Birthday
Country music star Ivana Pino, 32, tragically died in a car crash just one day after celebrating her birthday. On Saturday morning, Pino lost control of her vehicle on Route M-80 in Pelluhue, Chile, crashing into a concrete barrier before the car flipped over. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to Cauquenes Hospital for treatment.
Authorities, including the local prosecutor's office and police, are investigating the cause of the accident. Reports indicate that Pino was returning home from a birthday party when the incident occurred.
Pino’s last social media post, a selfie on Facebook, expressed gratitude for the birthday wishes: “Today, I thank God for allowing me to celebrate another year of life. Thank you all for your beautiful greetings and for all the love given. Many, many thanks, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I love you a lot.”
Known as "La Rancherita de Chanco," Pino gained fame in the municipality of Chanco, performing rancheras, a traditional Mexican music genre, at local festivals. She also worked for Chanco’s communication department and hosted her own show.
Mayor Marcelo Waddington mourned the loss, saying, “She gladdened the hearts of the most humble people in our city. We feel for her so much, the people have loved her so much, that the truth is they have suffered a lot with her passing.”
Fans shared their grief on social media. Blanca Leal wrote, “Yesterday happy celebrating her birthday and today she is no longer here, how our lives change from one moment to the next.” Carlos Pernalillo added, “Her memory and legacy will shine in every stage that is placed in Chanco and its surroundings. The suffering of her family for a person who brought joy and humor fades today in the face of this painful news, may her family find comfort.”
Pino, a married mother of two boys and two girls, was laid to rest Monday afternoon. The funeral service, attended by friends, family, and hundreds of fans, featured live music in honor of her legacy.
