Billionaire's glamorous new wife goes viral trying to bully woman who shares her new surname into selling her Instagram handle just days after tying the knot

A billionaire's new wife has gone viral after allegedly attempting to coerce a woman who shares her new name into selling her Instagram handle.

Katherine Asplundh, formerly known as Driscoll, recently married Cabot Asplundh, 27, from the wealthy Asplundh family in Pennsylvania. Their wedding reception occurred in Palm Beach, Florida, just two weeks ago.

After the wedding, Katherine, an influencer with over 14,600 Instagram followers, tried to change her handle from @katherinedrisc to @katherineasplundh. However, she found that her desired username was already taken.

After the happy couple exchanged vows, the new Asplundh reached out another woman of the same name in hopes of purchasing a new Instagram account name

In her bid to acquire the handle, which breaches Instagram's terms of service, Katherine contacted the account owner, known as Kate. Kate declined, citing concerns about getting banned from Instagram for selling the username. This rejection led to a series of entitled messages from Katherine.

Kate, who initially considered changing her username but reconsidered due to Katherine's tone, later shared their exchange online. The conversation went viral, highlighting Katherine's messages to an anonymous user believed to be Kate.

Asplundh then continues to question the legitimacy of her name, who confirms she is not American

"I was wondering if I could purchase your username from you," Katherine wrote. "Just got married and this is my new name!"

Kate explained the ban risk associated with selling usernames on Instagram. Katherine countered, mentioning her past purchases of usernames and citing celebrities who use similar methods to secure their full names as handles.

Kate eventually tells Asplundh that if she had been nice about it, she would have considered giving her the account name for free

Their conversation escalated with Katherine questioning Kate's identity, claiming her husband's family is the only Asplundh family in the US. Kate clarified she's not American, prompting Katherine to ask for proof of her name.

Kate mentioned she might have considered giving Katherine the account name for free if approached nicely, but Katherine's demeanor led her to report the influencer for solicitation and harassment.

Since then, Asplundh's social media pages have been filled with comments and she reportedly had to privatize her page - before making it public again

In an interview, Kate shared her perspective, mentioning she initially entertained the idea but changed her mind due to Katherine's tone.

According to Katherine's social media, she's from New Vernon, New Jersey, and attended the College of Charleston. Her TikTok account, Lost Etiquette, has a substantial following. She married into the Asplundh family, known for founding Asplundh Tree Expert, a billion-dollar enterprise.

The incident shed light on the prohibition against buying or selling Instagram handles, although an investigation revealed a thriving market for such transactions. While Instagram usually assigns handles on a first-come, first-served basis, exceptions have been made for celebrities.

Katherine's online presence faced scrutiny, leading her to temporarily privatize her accounts. Despite the controversy, she celebrated her wedding as the "best day" of her life on Instagram, sharing photos of the event.
