Body of boy, 12, missing for four years is the FOURTH body to be found in chilling house of horrors
Jaylen Griffin, known as the "Boy in the Attic," was the fourth deceased individual discovered in a Buffalo house of horrors in the last four years.
Police logs revealed that authorities received 160 complaints regarding the address, where sex offenders and parolees resided, and where Jaylen Griffin's body was discovered almost four years after his disappearance in August 2020. This property on Sheffield Avenue in South Buffalo, New York, has a history of issues, with at least three other bodies previously found there.
The first body was found during a welfare check in June 2020, followed by another discovery in September 2022 that led to an arrest. The most recent body was discovered in August 2023 in the yard of the house.
Aside from these tragic discoveries, the property has been a subject of various complaints ranging from domestic violence to fires and mental health concerns, according to reports.
Buffalo Police Department declined to comment on the situation, directing inquiries to their previous press conference about Jaylen's case, where they mentioned that the body was found by someone with a valid reason inside the property.
In a related incident, a neighbor is suing the landlords, Sunrise West LLC, and Spectrum Health and Human Services due to property damage caused by a tenant allegedly throwing burnt mattress pieces out of a window.
Spectrum is known to house individuals with high needs and risks across different locations in the city, although they have not responded to requests for comment on this matter.
Jaylen's body was found on April 12, close to what would have been his 16th birthday. Authorities believe his body had been in the house for a while, although they couldn't specify the exact duration.
Unfortunately, Jaylen's mother, Joann Ponzo, passed away in September 2023 without knowing the fate of her son. The Buffalo PD has offered a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of those responsible for Jaylen's death.
