Body of Riley Strain found in river, no evidence of foul play: Nashville police

Nashville police recovered the body of missing college student Riley Strain from the Cumberland River in West Nashville on Friday morning after a two-week search.

Police stated that there was no evidence of foul play-related trauma, indicating that Strain likely accidentally fell into the river.

Nashville Police Chief John Drake informed reporters that Strain's body was spotted by river workers on Friday morning. An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the same day.

Strain, a 22-year-old senior at the University of Missouri, disappeared on March 8 after a night out at Nashville bars during a visit with his Delta Chi fraternity brothers for their formal event.

Surveillance footage and police cameras documented Strain's movements until around 10 p.m. on the night he went missing. Despite extensive search efforts, including foot, drone, and boat searches, Strain remained missing until his body was found in the river.

Strain's stepfather, Chris Whiteid, expressed the family's emotions, acknowledging the challenging discussions they are now facing.

He described feelings of frustration, hurt, and depression while emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding Strain's disappearance.
