Bristol deaths: Pictures of boy, 7, girl, 3, and 10-month-old baby found dead in house

The pictures of a baby and two other children tragically found deceased inside their residence in Bristol have been released. The three children, Faris, aged seven, Jory, aged three, and Mohamed, aged 10 months, were identified today by a close family friend, Salwa Bashar, 32, an NHS worker, who mentioned that her children often played with the trio. Bashar described the children as "murdered" over the weekend.

Their mother, Yasmin, was apprehended at the residence and subsequently transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She is currently in police custody. Bashar, whose own children were close friends with Yasmin’s eldest son Faris, expressed profound grief, emphasizing the exceptional qualities of the children.

She shared, “Her children were the most beautiful souls. Faris was the most intelligent child I have ever met, courteous and always concerned about others. It's heartbreaking to lose such extraordinary children who deserved protection from the authorities, especially given the known challenges they faced.”

Reflecting on Yasmin's parenting, Bashar remarked, “Yasmin was a good mother, albeit somewhat overprotective, in my opinion. I often encouraged her to seek more support for her mental health.” She recounted Yasmin's history, stating that Yasmin met her husband through social media nine years ago while residing in Sudan and subsequently relocated to the UK after their marriage.

The woman in custody, identified locally as Yasmin, aged 42, is currently hospitalized under police custody following the distressing discovery made after a welfare check at approximately 12:40 am on Sunday.

Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen of Avon and Somerset Police disclosed that forensic post-mortem examinations would be conducted this week to determine the cause of death of the children. She added that the arrested woman sustained injuries, though not life-threatening, and was under observation in the hospital.

Addressing the press, Chief Inspector Hayward-Melen expressed condolences, stating, “This is a terrible and deeply distressing tragedy in which three young children have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with the children’s loved ones enduring this horrendous ordeal.” She outlined the sequence of events leading to the discovery of the children and assured the community of ongoing support and vigilance.

Hayward-Melen urged anyone with information pertinent to the investigation to come forward and provided contact details for the police. She also mentioned the involvement of the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior police contact, ensuring transparency in the investigation process.

The police appeal for information as they embark on a meticulous investigation, emphasizing the complexity and sensitivity of the case. Hayward-Melen expressed gratitude for the community's solidarity and pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
