Children Crawl Through Mother's Blood to Seek Help After Fatal Shooting in Georgia
Two young children, aged two and five, were forced to crawl through their mother's blood to find help after she was fatally shot, according to police. The tragic incident took place on Saturday in Augusta, Georgia, where 27-year-old Laquana Lang was found dead.
Davante Parks, 26, who had a relationship with Lang, has been arrested and charged with her murder. He is currently being held in Richmond County Jail on multiple charges, including one count of murder, two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest warrants, obtained by WRDW, detail the chilling aftermath of the crime. Following the shooting, Lang's two young children were left alone with her body for over four hours before they crawled through a pool of her blood to find help. The children later identified Parks, believed to be their stepfather, as the shooter.
Lang was reportedly shot around 4 a.m., but her death was not officially pronounced until 11:06 a.m. by the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
This incident occurred less than two months after Parks was released on parole for a previous shooting. In May 2016, he shot Brittney McKie, wounding her in multiple areas, including her right arm, thigh, and genitals. Parks pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
McKie expressed her shock and frustration upon learning of Parks' involvement in this latest crime. “I didn’t go to sleep; I haven’t been to sleep since I heard he was out,” she told WJBF. She also revealed that she was unaware of his release, finding out through social media posts.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for further details on the case.
