Chinese public toilets now scan your urine for health problems
Public restrooms in China have introduced advanced "health checking" urinals that can analyze urine for various health markers, offering screenings for less than $3.
These innovative urinals have recently appeared in public men's restrooms in major Chinese cities like Beijing and Shanghai. They claim to provide quick and accurate urine analysis on-site for just 20 yuan, equivalent to about $2.76.
Shanghai-based documentary director Christian Petersen-Clausen shared his experience with these futuristic urinals in a viral X thread. He mentioned, "A private company offers urine analysis for RMB 20. Naturally, I tried it out."
Petersen-Clausen dismissed privacy concerns, emphasizing his focus on obtaining health reassurance conveniently. He paid the fee via WeChat, received his results promptly, and shared photos of the high-tech machine in action.
The results indicated a lack of Calcium, but were otherwise unremarkable. Petersen-Clausen later retested and found improved Calcium levels. He commended the company's initiative in installing these urinals across China for early detection of health issues.
The urinal machines also test for Vitamin C, Creatinine, white blood cells, glucose, and more. Despite his wife's indifference, Petersen-Clausen found widespread interest in the topic.
Similar high-tech urinals have been spotted in various locations across China, including shopping malls. While they offer quick and accurate health testing, a disclaimer clarifies that the results are for health management reference and not diagnostic purposes.
