Christy Carlson Romano Hospitalized After Being Shot in the Face During Shooting Trip
Even Stevens alum Christy Carlson Romano is recovering after suffering multiple facial injuries in a shocking accident during a shooting trip in Austin, Texas.
Romano, 40, revealed on Instagram that she was hospitalized on Feb. 7 after being hit in the face by stray shotgun pellets while celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney's 42nd birthday.
"I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present," she wrote on Feb. 8, sharing a video of her injuries. "There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face."
Her husband immediately sprang into action, assessing her injuries and rushing her to the hospital.
Romano was struck in five places, with one fragment landing less than an inch from her right eye. A piece of shrapnel remains lodged behind her eye, but doctors have deemed it too risky to remove surgically at this time.
"I can see normally at the moment," she assured her followers, adding that medical professionals will continue to monitor her condition.
