Corps member mourns his 12-year-old student who was kidnapped and killed after ransom payment in Bauchi
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Bauchi State, Akut Boyyo, has expressed grief over the tragic loss of one of his students, Christopher Bala, who was kidnapped and subsequently murdered by an individual identified as Rabi’u Ibrahim after extorting ransom from his family.
According to reports by LIB, the Bauchi State Police Command took Ibrahim into custody in connection with the abduction and killing of the young Christopher in Magama town, Gumau Local Government Area of the state.
Christopher, the son of Police officer ASP Bala Yarima from Gumau Division, was reportedly abducted on March 21, 2024, while running an errand.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 28, SP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed that the police swiftly responded to a distress call regarding Christopher's abduction and launched an immediate operation to apprehend the culprits.
During preliminary investigations, Rabi’u Ibrahim was identified as the perpetrator and confessed to the heinous crime. He admitted to receiving a ransom of N200,000 from ASP Yarima and confessed to strangling Christopher out of fear of being recognized. Subsequently, he buried the victim's body in a shallow grave at Bazale village hill.
