Crazed woman shoots random drivers on Florida interstate because ‘God’ told her to via the solar eclipse
A woman, Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, went on a shooting spree on a Florida interstate, reportedly claiming that "God" instructed her to do so during the solar eclipse, according to police.
She left her Holmes County motel on Monday and informed motel staff that she was directed by "God" to carry out the shooting rampage in connection with the total solar eclipse, despite Florida not being in the path of the phenomenon.
Driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia plates, Celestine entered Interstate 10 at the 112-mile marker and began firing at vehicles within a five-mile stretch in Washington County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
She allegedly fired multiple shots at a passing car on the interstate, grazing the male driver's arm and causing glass fragments to strike him when a bullet shattered his window. The driver pulled over onto the highway shoulder, while Celestine continued driving.
Armed with both an assault rifle and a handgun, Celestine proceeded to shoot at a second vehicle near the 107-mile marker, injuring the driver in the neck, who was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Highway patrol troopers eventually stopped Celestine near the 96-mile marker, where they found an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun in her possession. She was arrested without resistance and taken to Holmes County Jail, facing charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing, including determining the legality of the firearms she used in the shootings.
