Cultists kill vigilante member in Rivers

Gunmen have tragically killed a member of the Diobu Vigilante Group, DVG, Mr. Uche Orukwo, at Obidanso Waterfront, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has instilled fear in the area, prompting the police to urge for calm among residents. Reports indicate that the victim was part of a security team that had embarked on a mission to the waterfront to combat cultists who had been causing havoc in the locality.

Acting on intelligence, the security team arrived at the waterfront around 9 p.m. on Saturday, as suspected cultists were preparing to launch an attack on a rival group amidst an ongoing supremacy conflict.

Upon spotting the security operatives, the cultists opened fire, resulting in the tragic death of the vigilant member, Orukwo.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, acknowledged the killing of Orukwo and assured that investigations were underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
