Dad arrested after police say he called ‘18 or 19 times’ in under an hour to complain about his son’s homework
An Ohio father was arrested after making numerous calls to a school and the police regarding his child's homework, leading to charges of telecommunications harassment and menacing.
According to Detective Sergeant Adam Price from the Oxford Police Department, Adam Sizemore made approximately 18 to 19 calls within an hour, which disrupted operations at the K-5 school. Sizemore's primary complaint was about the amount of homework assigned to his son, despite it being within normal limits for elementary school.
In response to the accusations, Sizemore mentioned that most of them were untrue and expressed his struggles as a single parent trying to do his best.
The police report outlined Sizemore's repeated calls to the school, where he demanded to speak with the principal about his concerns regarding homework affecting his time with his son after school. However, when unable to reach the principal, Sizemore became agitated, used profanity towards school staff, and persisted in calling despite warnings from a school resource officer.
Police interaction escalated when Sizemore exhibited slurred speech and admitted to being intoxicated during phone calls. He directed derogatory language towards the officer and threatened their job. Officers visited Sizemore's residence but were unable to speak with him as he continued calling the school and police.
Sizemore's behavior persisted the next day with calls to the school and police, where he exhibited aggressive language towards the principal. This led to his arrest, facing charges of telecommunications harassment and menacing, with potential fines and jail time if found guilty.
The Talawanda School District confirmed receiving similar calls and messages, reflecting the challenges faced in dealing with such situations.
