Dad of 3 kids strangled by mom while she was allegedly suffering psychotic break to run Boston Marathon in their memory
The Massachusetts father of three children, who were tragically strangled allegedly by their mother, is set to run the Boston Marathon on Sunday in honor of his beloved children. Patrick Clancy from Duxbury is dedicating the 26.2-mile journey to raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital, where his youngest child passed away.
Expressing his deep sorrow and immense pride for his children, Clancy shared on Boston Children’s Hospital’s website, “My kids brought me so much joy and couldn’t have made their dad prouder.” He added, “Losing them has been devastating, a heartbreak I’ll carry forever, but I’m committed to honoring their memory by striving for positive change. I aim to emulate their passion for life, which was truly infectious.”
In January 2023, Clancy's children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and seven-month-old Callan — tragically lost their lives. Their mother, Lindsay Clancy, who was reportedly battling postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis, is accused of the unimaginable act of strangling them at their home before attempting to take her own life by jumping from a second-story window.
As of Friday evening, Clancy had raised an impressive $48,310 of his $50,000 goal for Boston Children’s Hospital. During the marathon, he plans to wear his “Happy Callan” bracelet and carry a resin containing his children’s handprints, as he mentioned in a statement.
Clancy fondly remembers Cora as “brave” and passionate about caring for others, expressing her dream to become a doctor and a mother one day. Dawson, he recalls, was incredibly friendly, a lover of fire trucks and Paw Patrol, who could light up anyone’s day with his infectious joy. Clancy misses Callan's laughter and cherishes the time he spent holding him at Boston Children’s Hospital before he passed away.
Reflecting on his wife's struggles with mental health, Clancy had previously voiced concerns to friends about her medications, as detailed in court documents. Despite the tragedy, he has shown remarkable compassion, urging forgiveness for Lindsay and emphasizing her loving nature toward others.
Clancy’s dedication to honoring his children’s memory and supporting Boston Children’s Hospital stands as a testament to his enduring love and strength in the face of profound loss.
