Daughter allegedly beats mom to death with pan then makes chilling admission on 911 call

Selma Mclean, 46, suffered trauma to the face and head in the brutal attack.

A Bronx woman brutally killed her mother with a cooking pot and then chillingly confessed to the murder when she called 911, according to sources and shocked family members.

Skydajah Patterson, 26, had recently been discharged from a mental health treatment facility when she allegedly attacked 46-year-old Selma Mclean inside their apartment in NYCHA’s President Adams Houses in the Bronx on Monday at 3:40 a.m., according to police and sources.

After the assault, she immediately informed an emergency operator, saying, "I just killed my mom," prompting authorities to rush to the apartment. There, they discovered Mclean unconscious and unresponsive with severe injuries to her face and head, as reported by sources.

Skydajah Patterson, 26, allegedly used a frying pan to fatally bludgeon her mom, sources said

Upon arriving at the third-floor unit, police allegedly found Patterson still holding the blood-stained pot, according to sources.

Sources stated that Patterson confessed to using the kitchenware to strike her mother on the back of the head, causing her to lose consciousness. Mclean was pronounced dead at the scene, according to law enforcement.

Patterson was taken into custody but had not been charged as of late afternoon, according to police.

Mclean's goddaughter, Danaeyah Reynolds, 26, told The Post that her godmother had expressed fear of Patterson shortly before the tragic incident. Patterson had recently been released from a psychiatric ward.

"She was in a psych ward in February until last week," Reynolds said. "She started hearing voices and speaking in a man’s voice last night. My godmother said she was scared because Skydajah was saying that the voices in her head were telling her that [my godmother] was dangerous."

The daughter, 26, called 911 admitting that she'd killed her mom, sources said.

Reynolds further explained that Patterson's mental health had deteriorated since she lost her baby boy in August.

"She didn't properly heal from it," Reynolds recalled. "She just wanted to move forward and for everything to be fine. She was worrying about the breakup with the baby’s father."

Patterson's mental state worsened last month, according to Reynolds, who said that was the last time Patterson allegedly attacked her mother, this time with knives.

The younger woman was found holding a blood-covered pan, sources said.

"She called the cops on herself. She spent two weeks in the psych ward and she came out last Tuesday," Reynolds said.

Law enforcement sources also revealed a previous "domestic incident report" involving Patterson and her mother from October 2022.

Mclean had three daughters, but only two, including Patterson, lived with her, according to family members.

The other daughter arrived at the apartment Monday afternoon, visibly distressed.

The mother, who suffered trauma to her face and head, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Jaeda! My mom!" she yelled while attempting to enter the apartment. "My sister killed her! Last night, she killed her with a frying pan. I need my inhaler; it's inside! I can't breathe; let me in!"

Rosa Medina, 79, a neighbor who had lived across the hall for 14 years, described the family as "very quiet" and expressed shock at the tragic event.
