Decomposed Body of Missing Kentucky Infant Found, Believed to Be 8-Month-Old Miya Rudd
Kentucky State Police detectives discovered the decomposed body of a baby on Friday, believed to be that of 8-month-old Miya Rudd, who has been missing for weeks.
The body, found in an Ohio County residence in western Kentucky, was "hidden in a concealed manner," according to state police. It will be transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville for an autopsy.
Relatives reported they had not seen Miya since late April. The search for the baby intensified over the past week, with investigators using cadaver dogs, sonar equipment, and forensic examiner teams to scour various locations, including a church, cemetery, and a wooded area behind the family's home.
Miya’s parents, Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, were found at a hotel without their child. Earlier this month, they, along with Miya's paternal grandparents, were arrested and charged with child abuse, abandonment, and multiple drug offenses. Attempts to reach Tucker and Rudd’s attorney for comment were unsuccessful.
Miya's maternal grandparents were also arrested on Wednesday on outstanding warrants. Another man, previously living at the Rudd home, was charged with several drug offenses on Thursday.
State police officials expressed frustration with the lack of cooperation from Miya’s family during the investigation. Trooper Corey King, a state police spokesperson, remarked on the surprising lack of assistance and information from the family, who "should love and care the most."
