Delta corps member dies in Ogun lone accident
A youth corps member serving in Delta State, Ige Adedayo, has reportedly died in a lone accident at Ago Adura area, Itori on Sango-Abeokuta expressway.
Adedayo was said to have been among the corps members who had recently left the orientation camp, possibly returning home for the Easter break before the tragic incident occurred.
He was an indigene of Ogun State and a graduate of D S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, which is located near the accident site.
The crash, involving a Mercedes-Benz with number plate JJJ168JF, reportedly took place on Saturday. Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the accident in a statement in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
Akinbiyi mentioned, based on an eyewitness account, “The car driver dosed off while driving, leading to loss of control, tumbling, and crashing from the inward to outward lane.”
Although initial reports stated that the deceased was a corps member serving with D S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, a reliable source within the National Youth Service Corps, Ogun State, clarified the situation.
The source, requesting anonymity due to protocol, stated: “We have conducted our investigation, and no corps member serving in Ogun State is missing. The individual reported to have tragically died in an accident on Saturday, identified as Ige Samuel, was a corps member serving in Delta.
“He likely returned home for the Easter break before the accident claimed his life. His code number is DT/24A/1478, and he graduated from D S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, just a short distance from the accident site.”
The remains of the corps member have reportedly been deposited at Ifo General Hospital.
