Delta State: Police Commissioner removes DCO over alleged N2.4m extortion
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has promptly removed the Divisional Crime Officer in the Abraka Division, SP Ibrahim Ishaku, following allegations of extortion totaling N2,465,000.
Additionally, SP Ibrahim Ishaku has been formally queried for official misconduct.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, in Warri on Wednesday, it was clarified that upon receiving the troubling report, the Commissioner of Police instructed the DPO of Abraka to appear at the headquarters alongside DCO 2, SP Ibrahim Ishaku.
The statement further elucidated that upon briefing the Commissioner about the concerning incident, immediate action was taken resulting in the removal of DCO 2, Ibrahim Ishaku, and issuance of a misconduct query.
In a related development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Abaniwonda, emphasized the zero-tolerance stance of the command against any officer engaged in misconduct, extortion, or rudeness towards the public.
The CP reiterated the commitment of the command to thoroughly address any misconduct by its officers, emphasizing that no guilty officer would be exempt from consequences.
Furthermore, the CP emphasized the importance of serving Delta State with integrity and upholding the rights of its citizens as paramount objectives of the command.
