Doechii Named Billboard Woman of the Year for 2025
Rising rapper Doechii has been recognized as Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, joining past honorees such as Taylor Swift, SZA, Lady Gaga, and Karol G.
The announcement follows a major milestone in her career, as she recently won the Grammy for Best Rap Album, making her only the third woman to achieve this honor in the category’s history. During her acceptance speech, Doechii became emotional as she acknowledged the few women who have received the award, mentioning Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and now herself.
Doechii will be honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 29, an event that has previously celebrated influential artists like Madonna, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande.
Her breakthrough mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, was widely acclaimed, showcasing a blend of smooth R&B romance and sharp lyrical prowess. The project was recognized as one of the top albums of 2024, further cementing her impact on the music industry.
Billboard Editor-in-Chief Hannah Karp highlighted Doechii’s influence, praising her for captivating audiences across genres with her dynamic performances, candid lyricism, and distinctive style.
Other honorees at the upcoming Billboard Women in Music Awards include aespa, Ángela Aguilar, Erykah Badu, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Blackpink’s Jennie, Megan Moroney, Meghan Trainor, Muni Long, and Tyla. The event will take place at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, with Laverne Cox serving as host.
The awards show will be broadcast live on March 29 at 7 p.m.
