Dominican Republic Man's Hand Cut Off in Machete Fight, Picks It Up Severed Hand After (Video)
Two men engaged in an intense sword duel in the Dominican Republic, resulting in one man losing a hand in the altercation, as captured on video by eyewitnesses.
The dramatic incident occurred on Tuesday in San Pedro de Macorís, a town in the southern part of the island. The footage of the confrontation is astonishing, resembling a scene straight out of a movie.
The two men confronted each other outside a gas station, wielding machetes and fiercely clashing with steel on the sidewalk.
In the video, they exchange aggressive strikes, initially appearing as if one man gains the upper hand by forcing his opponent to the ground. However, the man on the ground manages to defend himself with kicks and slashes from his back, eventually rising to his knee and successfully severing his opponent's hand at the wrist.
Following the severe injury, the injured man flees the scene while his attacker, with his shirt drenched in blood, walks away in the opposite direction. Despite losing a limb, the injured man calmly retrieves his severed hand, picks it up, and leaves.
Local reports suggest that the men were actually friends, and their conflict arose over a woman. The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital, although it remains uncertain whether doctors were able to save the hand and reattach it.
