Edo State: police arrest two women and three teenage girls who stripped lady naked in viral video over alleged phone theft
The Edo State Police Command has apprehended three female suspects for allegedly stripping and filming Christabel Akhigbe naked over an alleged phone theft, with the video posted on social media.
Police Commissioner CP Funsho Adegboye revealed this during a press briefing while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Benin City over the weekend.
The Commissioner identified the suspects as Blessing Lucky, 15; Jennifer Eboigbe, 30; Iziegbe Ogbodu, 39; Naomi Ekhonetomwan, 17; and Lucky Endurance, 16. They face charges of indecent assault and cyberstalking.
CP Adegboye explained that the suspects accused Christabel of stealing an Android phone, retrieved it from her, and then lured her into a room where they assaulted and stripped her. They also threatened her with pepper and circulated the video online.
Upon receiving the complaint, police arrested the suspects, and CP Adegboye cautioned against vigilante actions, highlighting that the original complainants have now become suspects. The suspects are expected to face court charges soon.
Jennifer Eboigbe, one of the suspects, expressed regret over their actions, stating, “I am ashamed of what they did because I am a mother.”
