The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of 14-year-old Faith Moses in Emure-Ekiti after an alleged failed rape attempt.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the suspects—Bashir Alaba (31) and Mohammad Jamiu (36)—were caught near the crime scene with two cutlasses, believed to have been used in the attack.

The tragic incident occurred on February 9, 2025, when Faith and her five-year-old brother, Testimony Moses, went to check a trap set by their father on a farm along Okeseri Road.

According to the young boy—who miraculously escaped—the suspects threatened to rape Faith.

According to her young brother, who escaped, the two men threatened to rape Faith and, when she resisted and fought back, they slit her throat and severed her right hand. Police operatives from Emure Division swiftly responded to the report, cordoned off the area, and apprehended the suspects near the scene.
