Ex-school cop on the run after allegedly killing teacher ex-wife at her school, murdering girlfriend and abducting kid on day he was due in court for child rape
A former school police officer is currently a fugitive after allegedly shooting his ex-wife and underage girlfriend on the same day he was scheduled to appear in court for allegedly raping two 16-year-old girls.
Elias Huizar, 39, is considered "armed and dangerous" and is feared to have abducted his 1-year-old son, Roman, according to alerts from Washington State Police.
Huizar is accused of killing his ex-wife Amber Rodriguez at William Wiley Elementary School on Monday afternoon, prompting the school to go into lockdown due to the gunfire.
Rodriguez, who worked as a paraeducator, had recently filed for changes in custody arrangements for their children, ages 5 and 9, according to court documents obtained by a news outlet.
As authorities searched for Huizar, they discovered a second victim — his underage girlfriend — deceased in his home near the school.
It remains unclear if the second victim is the mother of the missing 1-year-old child, who was reportedly impregnated at 15, according to reports.
Huizar was scheduled for court appearances on Monday for two cases involving inappropriate relationships with minors, including the alleged rape of one of his teenage girlfriend's friends.
Huizar divorced Rodriguez in 2020, after which she had sought a protection order citing harassment and concerns for her and her children's safety.
He had been arrested in February on charges related to the underage relationship and was released on bail with conditions barring contact with the girls and alcohol consumption.
Huizar served as a police officer from 2014 to 2022 at Washington Middle School in Yakima
