Fatal Clash Between Police and Shiites in Kaduna Leaves Four Shiites Dead and Officers Injured
Reports from the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, indicate that a confrontation with the Police in Kaduna State resulted in the death of at least four members and several others being wounded.
Professor Dauda Nalado, speaking on behalf of the IMN, alleged that the Kaduna police resorted to gunfire on Friday to disperse a procession held by their members in commemoration of the International Quds Day.
Law enforcement, particularly the Nigeria Police, intervened to stop the Shi’ites gathering, which had attracted a significant number of participants near the Katsina roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way.
The presence of the Shiites caused tension and disruption in the area, especially for businesses along Ahmadu Bello Way, as police fired shots to disperse the demonstrators.
According to Nalado, "Imam Ruhullah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini, the eminent global leader of the Islamic Revolution, called on Muslims and non-Muslims alike to demonstrate solidarity with the innocent and oppressed people of Palestine, condemning the brutality of the usurper, apartheid state of Israel. The Imam designated the last Friday of each Ramadan as the International Quds Day.”
He added that, under the leadership of Ibraheem Ya’qoub El-Zakzaky, the Islamic movement has been observing this event in Nigeria for many years.
Nalado also mentioned that the annual procession was among the triggers for the 2015 Zaria massacre carried out by the Buhari regime, aimed at eliminating Sayyid Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and suppressing the movement’s advocacy for justice, particularly their strong support for the Palestinian cause.
