Fearless NYC mom fights teen daughter’s hulking alleged kidnapper down four flights of stairs in insane video

A brave mother from Queens sprang into action when an alleged stalker attempted to kidnap her teenage daughter from their apartment building in Astoria, as per police reports and shocking video footage.

A doorbell camera captured the fearless moment Adriana Alvarez chased after the deli worker, who had reportedly become fixated on her 18-year-old daughter, Lex, as he forcefully dragged her down the stairs.

The dramatic video reveals how the terrifying incident unfolded shortly after 9 a.m. on Jan. 23, with Lex seen returning to their fourth-floor apartment on 43rd Street after a morning walk with their two dogs. Suddenly, a masked man in a camouflage jacket—later identified as George Vassiliou, 25—emerges from a staircase where he had been lying in wait.

Vassiliou, wearing black gloves, seizes Lex by both shoulders and begins dragging her down the stairs and out of the camera frame. Alvarez then rushes into the hallway and down the stairs.

"I’ve never heard my daughter scream like that," Alvarez, 35, recounted to The Post. "I thought maybe the dog had run downstairs, but I stepped out to see my daughter being dragged away. You never imagine this kind of thing would happen to you, especially in your own building. It was horrible."

A life-and-death struggle ensues over four flights of stairs as the fierce 5-foot-4, 130-pound mother exchanges blows with the hulking and armed 6-foot-2, 230-pound Vassiliou.

Despite her efforts, her punches have little effect as he continues pulling Lex down the stairs toward the building’s entrance. Alvarez mentioned that Vassiliou punched her in the face before resorting to pepper spray on both women.

Alvarez sustained injuries including a dislocated shoulder, a fractured orbital socket, and a broken elbow during the brutal altercation but remained undeterred. Though her vision was impaired, she continued struggling with Vassiliou and calling for help.

"As we reached the first floor, a neighbor who had heard us screaming came out with a stick and started hitting him," she recalled. "I noticed the apartment door was open, so I pushed my daughter inside."

Vassiliou attempted to block the closing door with his foot and once again tried to grab the girl.

"I tried pushing his foot out, and he grabbed me by the hair, pulling me into the vestibule," Alvarez recalled. He then allegedly stomped on her back several times.

Eventually, mother and daughter managed to break free from Vassiliou and fled outside. On the street, Alvarez banged on her neighbor's windows, urging someone to call 911. "A neighbor ran outside and held him down until the police arrived," Alvarez said.

Vassiliou faces charges including attempted kidnapping, assault, weapon possession, unlawful possession of harmful substances, harassment, and violating an order of protection, according to police. He is being held at Riker's Island with bail set at $50,000, jail records indicate.

NYPD sources revealed that Vassiliou rented a car the night before the attempted kidnapping and parked it outside Alvarez's building. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a bag containing rope, sleeping pills, melatonin, and tampons. A knife was also found in one of his pockets.

"He had planned this all out," Alvarez stated. "Where was he going to take my baby?"

According to Alvarez, her daughter had worked with Vassiliou at the C-Town Supermarket on 34th Avenue in Astoria. Lex, a cashier, had initially befriended Vassiliou, who worked in the deli department.

"They were friendly, they spoke, but he became intrusive—where she would be bagging items, and he’d stare at her," she explained. Eventually, Vassiliou asked Lex out on a date.

"She declined, and he quit his job, resorting to stalking her," alleged Alvarez, who works as an aesthetician. "We had a restraining order against him because he tried twice to grab her off the street before this incident."

Police sources confirmed the previous two incidents.

Despite the arrest, the single mother remains cautious. She and her daughter created a flyer warning women in the area to "run" if they encounter Vassiliou, describing him as a "violent kidnapper."

"It was the only thing I could do," Alvarez remarked. "You're not going to scare us out of Astoria. We'll show the world your face and tell them what you did."

While her daughter escaped unharmed, Alvarez faces mounting medical expenses for her severe injuries.

"No one was going to take my baby," she affirmed.
