FG to begin distribution of grains nationwide
The Federal Government has announced its intentions to distribute grains nationwide in response to the prevailing hardship in Nigeria.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, unveiled this initiative on Monday.
In a statement on his official social media platform, Senator Kyari conveyed empathy towards those affected by the country’s challenges. He acknowledged the severity of the situation, especially following recent incidents of foodstuff warehouse looting. Assuring Nigerians of the government’s steadfast commitment to their well-being, Senator Kyari revealed that the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains, sanctioned by President Muhammadu Buhari, will commence across all 36 states of the federation.
This program is slated to roll out during the week as part of ongoing efforts to alleviate the impact of hardship nationwide.
"We are collaborating closely with NEMA and the DSS to ensure that the grains reach the intended recipients in the appropriate packages and quantities. Additionally, 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from mega rice millers will be released into the market for stabilization," Senator Kyari stated.
The minister, commending the resilience of the Nigerian populace, urged citizens to support President Bola Tinubu's administration in its efforts to tackle the country's challenges.
"I salute the resilience of the Nigerian people, and it is this resilience that will guide us through these challenging times. Let us unite to bolster Mr. President's endeavors for a better Nigeria," Kyari remarked.
"Our government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is dedicated to confronting these challenges and striving towards a more secure and prosperous future for all," he added.
