Former Chelsea star wants divorce after discovering kids he raised were fathered by wife's ex
Former Chelsea star Geremi has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings in Cameroon after discovering through DNA tests that the two children he had been raising were not biologically his, but fathered by his wife's ex-partner. Court documents detail the shocking revelation that "no children were born from this union," causing Geremi significant emotional distress.
The ex-midfielder and his wife Laure had been raising twins since their birth in June 2008, four years before their marriage in 2012. Allegedly, Laure had misled Geremi into believing that he was the biological father of the twins, which played a role in their decision to get married.
The court documents, state that Geremi now contends that the twins were conceived during Laure's previous relationship, as confirmed by DNA testing. This revelation has deeply affected Geremi, leading him to file for divorce due to the breakdown of trust and harmony in their marriage.
The documents highlight Laure's actions as the cause of this discord, citing her "abject behaviour" and repeated lies. Geremi accuses his wife of causing him psychological damage with her deceit.
During his football career, Geremi played a crucial role under Jose Mourinho's leadership at Chelsea, joining the club from Real Madrid in 2003 and making 109 appearances. He contributed significantly to Chelsea's success, winning two Premier League titles and scoring four goals for the team. After leaving Chelsea, Geremi had stints at Newcastle, as well as in Turkey and Greece.
A former Cameroon international with 118 caps, Geremi has been active in football post-retirement, being involved with FIFPro and expressing aspirations to become a manager. He also shares insights on African football through his column.
