Former Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, Praises Corps Member for Bold Criticism of Government

Former Minister of Education Obiageli Ezekwesili has described the public criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Ushie Rita Uguamaye as an act of boldness.
In a series of posts on social media, Ezekwesili commended Uguamaye’s courage in speaking out about the state of the nation. She expressed admiration for the corps member’s stance, emphasizing the need for more citizens to demonstrate similar boldness in holding public officials accountable.
Ezekwesili stated that Uguamaye had effectively used her voice to evaluate governance, calling it a "masterclass on Democracy 101." She highlighted that the corps member’s critique was based on evidence and a clear assessment of the administration’s performance.
The former minister urged Nigerians to learn from Uguamaye’s example and emphasized that demanding accountability from leaders is both a constitutional right and a civic duty. She stressed the importance of citizens voicing their concerns to ensure transparency and responsibility in governance.
Following her viral video criticizing the president and expressing concerns over economic hardship, Uguamaye was reportedly summoned by NYSC officials. However, when she arrived at their office on March 17 with her legal team and activist Omoyele Sowore, the officials were absent.
