Former NFL Star Vontae Davis Found Dead at 35

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis has died, according to reports in April 2024.

Vontae Davis, a former NFL star who retired in 2018, has passed away at the age of 35.

"The retired football pro was found dead in Southwest Ranches, Florida on Monday morning," confirmed the Davie Police Department

The cornerback retired midway through a Bills game in 2018.

"Officers responded to the residence 'in reference to a medical call' that was made by 'the house assistant, who found the homeowner deceased,'" stated police in a statement.

"During his 10-season NFL career, the cornerback played for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills," the reports highlighted.

Vontae Davis played for the Colts during his NFL career.

"A two-time Pro Bowler, Davis was also well-known for abruptly retiring from the NFL at halftime in 2018," the reports continued.

"In an official statement announcing his retirement, Davis said, 'This isn’t how I pictured retiring from the NFL. But today on the field, reality hit me and hard. I shouldn’t be out there anymore,'" according to Sports Illustrated.
