Robert Preston Morris, a former pastor of a Texas megachurch, has been indicted on child sexual abuse charges in Oklahoma, following allegations made by a woman who accused him of sexually abusing her in the 1980s. Morris, 63, has been charged with five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child.

The alleged abuse began in 1982 when the victim, identified as C.C., was 12 years old. At the time, Morris, a traveling evangelist, was staying with her family in Hominy, Oklahoma. According to the indictment, the abuse continued for four years.

Cindy Clemishire, the woman who came forward with the accusations, expressed her gratitude to the authorities who worked to make the indictment possible. She stated that she is hopeful "justice will ultimately prevail" and emphasized the significance of the charges.

"After almost 43 years, the law has finally caught up with Robert Morris for the horrific crimes he committed against me as a child," said Clemishire, now 55. "Now, it is time for the legal system to hold him accountable."

Clemishire, who had previously chosen to remain anonymous, requested that her name be included in the report.
