Four Seriously Wounded in Amsterdam Stabbing Attack

A knife-wielding assailant was among five people seriously wounded in a stabbing attack at a busy shopping center in Amsterdam. Authorities reported that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The attacks occurred near Dam Square in central Amsterdam during the late afternoon. Police secured the area, and multiple ambulances responded to the scene. A trauma helicopter was deployed to the square but later departed.

The suspect was apprehended with the assistance of a civilian. Law enforcement officials have not yet determined a motive for the attack.
The incident disrupted a city council meeting attended by Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, which was interrupted as a result of the stabbing.
